Henrietta Rowcliffe - Equine Specialist 25 years, Eagala Certified Equine Specialist
About Faye
Faye is a humanistic, integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who practices as an Eagala Certified Mental Health Professional in equine-assisted therapy with Henrietta and the Herd. She holds an MSc in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, with a research focus on mindfulness, which she weaves into her work as a core supportive tool. Before this, she spent a number of years in mental health settings including crisis centres, community services and the HSE, drawing on a range of approaches to find what best suited each client.
Her search for what truly helps each person led her back to something she had known since childhood: horses. Having grown up with horses in her family, Faye deeply appreciates their ability to meet each individual and mirror who they are. She is drawn to equine-assisted therapy because of the relational quality horses offer: a grounded, mindful presence that gives clients room to find their own way forward, with support alongside them. She believes this kind of presence and connection is fundamental to healing.
About Henrietta
Henrietta is a certified Eagala equine specialist and brings over 25 years of specialist experience working with horses across rehabilitation, therapy, training, racing and young horse development.
As the Equine Specialist within our Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy work, Henrietta brings an extensive understanding of equine behaviour, body language, communication and welfare. Her ability to observe and interpret the horse’s responses is central to creating safe, meaningful and respectful interactions between horse and client.
Henrietta is a qualified Equine Massage Therapist and has extensive experience in equine rehabilitation, injury management, hydrotherapy and therapeutic care. Throughout her career she has worked closely with veterinary professionals, trainers, chiropractors and other equine specialists, developing a highly attentive and welfare-focused approach to working with horses.
Her experience ranges from young and inexperienced horses through to competition and high-performance racehorses. She has also owned and operated an equine hydrotherapy facility and has worked with numerous high-profile racehorses, giving her an exceptionally broad understanding of horses, their physical needs and their individual personalities.
Within the therapeutic setting, Henrietta’s role is to facilitate the relationship between horse and client, while ensuring the horse’s welfare, comfort and boundaries are respected at all times. She provides insight into the horse’s behaviour and responses, helping clients and the psychotherapist to notice and explore interactions, communication and connection as they naturally unfold.
Henrietta works alongside Faye, the psychotherapist, combining specialist equine knowledge with professional psychotherapy to create a safe, supportive and carefully facilitated environment.
Her approach is grounded in trust, connection, observation and respect — recognising the horse as an active participant in the therapeutic process rather than simply a tool for therapy.
Based in The Curragh, Co. Kildare, Henrietta is passionate about the unique relationship between horses and people and the opportunities that this relationship can provide for reflection, connection and personal growth.
